Ethos and Values of the school

At Valewood Primary School we are concerned for the well-being, happiness and development of every child in the school. The class teacher is responsible for the pastoral care of the children in the class, with support from the senior teachers and Headteacher. There are times during the day when that responsibility is delegated to the lunchtime supervisors, the school secretary and the teaching assistants, these individuals are awarded the same respect as teaching staff at all times.

The school operates a positive behaviour policy. We have high expectations of behaviour and reward good behaviour. Unacceptable behaviour brings reprimands and reasoned discussion. Sanctions, such as missed playtimes and writing letters of apology, may also be used. If a child misbehaves consistently, parents will be asked to come into school to discuss future plans. Exclusion from school is an option rarely employed, but available if necessary. We believe in high standards of discipline and ask parents to work with us to ensure the continuity of this standard.

Bullying is a continued verbal and/or physical abuse of an individual and is never tolerated. Please inform the Headteacher if you ever suspect your child is bullying or being bullied.
